In a startling incident in Gainesville, Florida, Kaheem Naquaun Smith, aged 33, was apprehended following allegations of unauthorized entry into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, during which he is accused of destroying and stealing security cameras. This unsettling episode unfolded at an apartment complex in Harbor Cove, located at 6815 W. University Avenue.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Smith reportedly accessed the apartment through an unlocked door around 1:20 a.m. on February 13, unbeknownst to the resident. Upon entering the living room, the victim instructed him to leave, but he allegedly refused to comply.

Smith is said to have vacated the premises two hours later, taking with him the security cameras from the front door area, which he allegedly dismantled before leaving. The situation escalated when Smith purportedly attempted to re-enter the apartment, prompting the victim to call 911, leading to his arrest.

Currently residing in High Springs, Smith faces several charges, including burglary of an occupied structure, petit theft, and misdemeanor property damage. Additionally, he is implicated in a sworn complaint for battery and property damage from a previous incident on January 29 in High Springs, where he allegedly assaulted the same victim and damaged her vehicle’s headlight. With two prior misdemeanor convictions on his record, Smith’s bail has been set at $90,000 by Judge Susan Miller-Jones.
