Logan Paul sells his Pokémon card card
An ultra-rare Pokémon card owned by wrestler and YouTuber Logan Paul has been sold at an auction for a record $US16.5 million ($23.3 million).

In 2021, Paul made headlines in Dubai by acquiring the Pikachu Illustrator card for a staggering $7.5 million, setting a record for the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold in a private transaction.

This high-stakes investment has turned out to be incredibly profitable for the 30-year-old social media influencer.

Paul recently featured on an episode of Netflix’s King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch, during which Ken Goldin, the owner of the auction house, persuaded him to consider selling the card.

“The Pokémon market is on fire. It’s taking over the market, and that’s the top card,” Goldin remarked at the time.

Paul mentioned his intention to use part of the proceeds to help fund his wedding to his fiancée, Danish model Nina Agdal.

At the auction, Paul also invested approximately $770,535 in other Pokémon merchandise, primarily focusing on sealed boxes.

Pokémon cards, which were popularised in the 1990s, are skyrocketing in value due to collector interest in rare cards in mint condition.
