A high school secretary from Indiana faces allegations after her husband reportedly found her in a compromising situation with a student, leading to revelations of additional inappropriate relations. This incident sparked an investigation uncovering further misconduct.

The Union City Police Department began their inquiry following allegations that Alicia Hughes, the secretary in question, was physically assaulted by her husband over the weekend.

Authorities detailed that Hughes’ husband encountered her with an 18-year-old student, prompting a confrontation that resulted in physical violence against her.

As the investigation unfolded, detectives found evidence that Hughes, employed by the Randolph Eastern School Corporation, had been involved in a sexual relationship with another student, who is 17 years old.

According to the police report, “Investigators ascertained that Hughes and the minor participated in sexual intercourse on no less than five occasions,” the statement revealed.

Hughes was arrested and charged with five counts of child seduction related to the sexual relationship with the minor student.

She was taken to the Randolph County Jail and was being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.

It was unclear if Hughes will be charged for her alleged relationship with the 18-year-old student or if her husband will face charges for the alleged battery.

In a statement, school district Neal Adams said Hughes had been removed from all duties pending “the outcome of the legal process.”

“RESC takes all allegations involving students extremely seriously. Upon becoming aware of concerns, the corporation fully cooperated with law enforcement and will continue to do so as the investigation proceeds,” he said. “We appreciate the professionalism and diligence of local authorities in handling this matter.”
