In a distressing incident at a Chuck E. Cheese location, two men have been charged following a violent altercation during a five-year-old girl’s birthday celebration. The fight resulted in serious injuries for one family member, who is now in a coma.
The confrontation allegedly began between Derrick Jones and Keshawn Fell in the restroom of the Sylvania Township, Ohio venue. Their conflict soon escalated and spread into the main area, alarming the young guests present, as reported by WTVG-TV.
The victim, a 22-year-old man identified as the birthday girl’s uncle, sustained severe injuries including a broken eye socket, leading to a medically induced coma.
Witnesses described scenes of panic, with children fleeing in fear. A 911 call from the manager revealed efforts to remove the combatants from the premises to ensure safety.
Bodycam footage shared by the news outlet shows employees intervening to separate the men, successfully pushing them out of the establishment to prevent further chaos.
“All I could do was gather the children and shield them against the wall to keep them out of harm’s way,” shared the victim’s sister in an interview with WTVG.
The woman’s brother reportedly collapsed and she said her daughter had been left “traumatized” at what unfolded at her party, believing that her sibling was struck by a weapon.
“I grabbed my brother. Please talk to me. Talk to me. I’m here,” she recalled as she tried to talk to her injured brother.
Family members were also left horrified by what unfolded.
“Like you knew when you went in the bathroom to fight, you knew that this was a kid’s establishment,” an unidentified family member said.
Jones faces an assault charge and Fell faces disorderly conduct in a hospital charge. Both men pleaded not guilty.
