Iran claimed to have enough uranium for 11 nuclear bombs during Geneva talks, US envoy Witkoff says

In a dramatic revelation, Iranian representatives informed their American counterparts during crucial discussions in Switzerland last week that Iran has accumulated enough enriched uranium to construct 11 nuclear bombs. This claim was highlighted by President Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, on Monday night.

During an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Witkoff stated, “The Iranian negotiators candidly disclosed to us, without any hesitation, that they have control over 460 kilograms of 60% enriched uranium. They acknowledged that this amount could be used to create 11 nuclear bombs, setting the tone for their negotiation stance.”

The talks in Geneva on February 26, attended by Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, were facilitated by Oman. These indirect negotiations were a last-ditch attempt to avert potential U.S. military intervention against Iran.

Witkoff recounted the opening of the talks, saying, “The Iranian negotiators began by asserting their inalienable right to enrich their nuclear fuel. That was their starting point.”

He continued, “Our response was firm, emphasizing that the president believes we have the inalienable right to halt their progress entirely.”

Reflecting on the exchange, Witkoff noted, “Following their declaration of rights to enrichment, they made it clear this was just their starting position. Jared and I exchanged glances, realizing the gravity of the situation we were facing.”

“They then went on to say that beyond the inalienable right to enrich, that that was going to be their starting point. And Jared and I just sort of looked at ourselves flummoxed and said, ‘Well, we’re really in for it now.’”
