EXCLUSIVE TO FOX: A man met his end on Wednesday after evading a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint, sparking a high-speed chase and exchange of gunfire with law enforcement in Texas.

Both Border Patrol agents and troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) were involved in the incident.

The pursuit was set in motion when the man sped away from the checkpoint situated on Interstate 10 near Sierra Blanca. The chase escalated when he crashed his vehicle and subsequently opened fire on the pursuing officers, as reported by sources to Fox News.

In response, law enforcement officers returned fire, resulting in his death. It remains unclear which agency’s officers discharged their weapons.
