What started as a verbal disagreement quickly escalated into a physical confrontation inside the cab. The situation took a dangerous turn when the passenger attempted to exit the vehicle. At that moment, Djerrah reportedly accelerated, causing the passenger to fall to the ground.
As a result of this sudden movement, the passenger suffered severe injuries upon hitting the ground. The gravity of the injuries has drawn attention to the incident, leading to Djerrah’s subsequent charge of reckless driving, as confirmed by Glenview police on Thursday.
As the passenger attempted to get out of the car, Djerrah accelerated, causing the passenger to fall out, police said.
The passenger hit the ground and suffered severe injuries, police said.
He remains hospitalized.
Chopper 7 was over the scene about 2 p.m. Monday at the grounds of the old Allstate Insurance headquarters.
Crime scene tape and several emergency vehicles were visible.
Djerrah was taken into custody at Milwaukee Avenue, just south of Harts Road, later that day, Niles police said. Park Ridge police had spotted the suspect vehicle, after the incident.
Djerrah was processed and released with a court date of March 26 in Skokie.
