An explosion at the U.S. embassy in Oslo, Norway, early Sunday morning is under investigation as a potential act of terrorism. Authorities suggest that the incident may be a deliberate attack possibly connected to the ongoing situation in Iran.

“Given the current security climate, it’s reasonable to consider this as a possible targeted attack on the U.S. embassy,” stated Frode Larsen, the head of the Oslo police investigation unit, during a press briefing.

Larsen further elaborated in an interview with public broadcaster NRK, saying, “While one of our main hypotheses points to terrorism, we are also keeping other possibilities in mind.”
