Hegseth says Russia 'should not be involved' in Iran war

When questioned about President Trump’s conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, Hegseth commented, “I wasn’t on the call, but those who were have described it as assertive, aimed at reaffirming the possibility of peace between Russia and Ukraine, while also emphasizing that they should refrain from involvement in this conflict.”

Recent reports from various media outlets indicate that Russia has shared intelligence with Iran regarding the locations of U.S. assets in the Middle East. This exchange is seen as part of Tehran’s efforts to retaliate against joint strikes by the U.S. and Israel.

On Monday, Trump informed the press that although Putin expresses a desire to assist in resolving the conflict with Iran, he suggested to Putin that he could be of greater assistance by working to conclude the war in Ukraine.
