Three arrested after drug manufacturing investigation scheme in Southeast Georgia, police say

Authorities in Southeast Georgia have arrested three individuals in connection with the manufacturing and distribution of cocaine, as reported by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office detailed the arrests, which were carried out during a coordinated operation aimed at dismantling a narcotics distribution network operating within the area.

The operation, conducted on March 3, resulted in the apprehension of Linward James Jr., who was identified as a primary suspect in the investigation. Alongside him, alleged accomplices Curtis Waye and Marcus Johnson were also taken into custody.

The raid further uncovered two stolen firearms, one traced back to St. Marys and the other to Jacksonville, adding a layer of seriousness to the charges against the suspects.

During the investigation, law enforcement also discovered two-kilogram cocaine presses. These devices are typically employed in the production and repackaging of cocaine for distribution, underscoring the scale of the illegal operation the suspects were allegedly involved in.

The investigators also found two-kilogram cocaine presses, which the sheriff’s office said, “are commonly used to manufacture and repackage cocaine for distribution.”

“This investigation is a great example of what can be accomplished when local and federal law enforcement agencies work together toward a common goal,” said Sheriff Kevin Chaney. “Narcotics trafficking continues to fuel violence and crime in our communities, and we remain committed to identifying those responsible and holding them accountable. I’m proud of the work done by our teams and our partner agencies to remove dangerous drugs and illegal firearms from our community.”

James Jr., Waye, and Johnson all face various drug charges and the sheriff’s office says the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.

Agencies involved in this case include the Joint Camden Action Team (JCAT), St. Marys Police Department, Kingsland Police Department and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).
