Trump taps Erika Kirk to serve on the Air Force Academy Board of Visitors

In a recent development, President Donald Trump has named Erika Kirk, the widow of the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors. This appointment places her in a significant role, contributing to the oversight of one of the nation’s premier military academies.

Erika Kirk currently leads as CEO and board chair of Turning Point USA, a position that underscores her leadership and commitment to conservative values. Her appointment to the Air Force Academy’s board is duly noted on the Academy’s official website, highlighting her role in shaping the future of military education.

The Board of Visitors plays a crucial role in reviewing and advising on various aspects of the Academy, including morale, discipline, curriculum, and fiscal matters. As described on the Academy’s site, the board’s responsibilities are broad, impacting the overall quality of education and training provided to future Air Force officers.

This appointment follows the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk in September. Prior to his untimely death, Charlie Kirk was also appointed by President Trump to serve on this board, evidencing the trust and respect he garnered from the administration.

White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales expressed strong support for Erika Kirk’s appointment in a statement to Fox News Digital. She emphasized the significance of Charlie Kirk’s previous service on the board, noting how he inspired countless individuals with his Christian faith, unwavering defense of truth, and profound patriotism.

“Charlie Kirk served proudly on the Board, inspiring not only the next generation of servicemembers, but millions around the world with his bold Christian faith, defense of the truth, and deep love of country.

“Erika Kirk will continue his legacy, and will be a fearless advocate for the most elite airpower force in the history of the world whose warriors keep our Nation safe, strong, and free,” Wales added.

“I applaud President Trump for appointing Erika Kirk to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors,” Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas, said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.

“I encouraged this appointment as Erika is the right person to fill Charlie’s place on the Board and continue his work of inspiring the next generation of service members and advancing the Academy. I look forward to working alongside her to carry on Charlie’s legacy,” Pfluger added.

Pfluger, a graduate of the academy, is the board’s chair.
