FBI: Old Dominion Gunman Said 'Allah Akbar' as He Commenced Attack

In a recent video released by Newsmax from an FBI press conference, it was revealed that the gunman involved in the Old Dominion University (ODU) incident shouted “Allah Akbar” as he launched his attack.

On Thursday, various reports surfaced identifying the suspect as a former National Guardsman previously convicted of supporting ISIS. The shooter was named as 36-year-old Mohamed Bailor Jalloh. He was taken into custody on July 3, 2016, on charges of attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. In 2017, he received an 11-year prison sentence for his actions.

During the FBI’s press conference on Thursday afternoon, officials confirmed that Jalloh had indeed shouted “Allah Akbar” as he began his attack.

According to the New York Post, Jalloh allegedly entered a classroom in ODU’s Constant Hall, inquiring whether it was an ROTC class. Upon receiving confirmation, he opened fire, targeting the instructor before being overpowered by ROTC students.

The FBI reported that Jalloh was ultimately subdued and “rendered him no longer alive” by the ROTC members present in the classroom.

The New York Post noted that Jalloh allegedly entered a classroom in ODU’s Constant Hall, “asked if it was an ROTC class,” then began shooting after being answered in the affirmative. He shot the instructor before being killed by ROTC students.

The FBI indicated that Jalloh was “subdued” and “rendered him no longer alive” by ROTC members in the classroom.
