According to a recent report by the Washington Post, unidentified drones have been spotted flying over a military base in Washington. This base is notably the residence of both Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The report, released on Wednesday, sourced its information from three individuals familiar with the matter.

As of now, officials have not been able to determine the origin of these drones. This uncertainty raises concerns about security and has led to discussions regarding the possibility of relocating Rubio and Hegseth to ensure their safety, as detailed by the report.

Despite these discussions, both Rubio and Hegseth remain at Fort McNair, according to a senior administration official. The situation is being closely monitored due to the ongoing elevated security alert, which is a result of increased tensions stemming from the US and Israeli conflict with Iran.

The military’s vigilance has been intensified in light of these threats, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures. It’s important to note that Reuters has not yet been able to independently confirm these details.

The newspaper said the US military was monitoring potential threats ‌more closely because of the heightened alert level over the US and Israeli war against Iran.

Reuters could not independently verify the report immediately.

The Pentagon and the US State Department did not respond to requests for comment.

Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell declined to discuss the drones with the Washington Post.

“The department cannot comment on the secretary’s (Hegseth’s) movements for security reasons, and reporting on such movements is grossly irresponsible,” he told the outlet.
