Georgia youth softball coach attacks rival on pitcher's mound in wild catfight caught on video

A heated altercation erupted on the field during a youth softball game over Easter weekend in Georgia, resulting in the arrest of a coach. The incident, captured in a video that swiftly went viral, involved a confrontation between two coaches following the match.

Meredith Haskew Grant, who coaches an 8U softball team, reportedly lost her temper after hearing that players from the opposing team had taunted her daughter. This claim was detailed in an arrest report obtained by KOMO News.

In the footage, Grant is seen making her way toward a rival coach right after the young players completed their traditional post-game handshakes. The video shows her weaving through the line of children before lunging at the opposing coach.

During the scuffle, both women fell to the ground, narrowly missing a young girl who was caught in the commotion. As the chaos unfolded, the children quickly retreated to their dugouts, while the two coaches continued their confrontation, as shown in the widely shared clip.

She cut through the squad of children and pounced on one coach, according to video captured by the rival team.

Both women tumbled into the dirt, nearly taking down a little girl in the process. The children fled to their respective dugouts as the women made it back to their feet and continued their catfight, the viral video shows.

A cover of Miley Cyrus’ breakup ballad “Wrecking Ball” blared over the speakers while the adults locked horns.

They eventually wound up back in the dirt as more coaches rushed to pull them apart. Horrified parents called for someone to “get those jerks out of here.”

When others tried to intervene, Grant continued “throwing hands at every single one” of them, as described by one of the victimized coaches.

“If we don’t have more restraint than this, you shouldn’t be coaching children. Ever. For those spreading rumors about what happened, the big eye in the sky doesn’t lie. Do better,” one coach wrote on Facebook.

Grant also claimed that one of the rival coaches “got in her face” during the end-of-game handshakes, according to the arrest report.

Cops, though, determined Grant was the aggressor and charged her with misdemeanor battery.

The state director of the United States Fastpitch Association banned Grant from coaching teams participating in any of their future tournaments.
