Benjamin Netanyahu reveals he was treated for early-stage prostate cancer

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently disclosed that he had received treatment for prostate cancer, a matter he had chosen to keep private to prevent it from becoming fodder for Iranian propaganda.

At the age of 76, Netanyahu underwent surgery in 2024 to address an enlarged prostate. During a subsequent check-up, doctors discovered a small spot, less than a centimeter, on his prostate.

“Upon further examination, it was identified as an early-stage malignant tumor, with no signs of spreading or metastasis,” Netanyahu stated in a public announcement.

Although the tumor did not require immediate intervention, the prime minister opted for treatment, which successfully eradicated any traces of cancer.

“I went through a few brief treatments, read a book, and continued with my work,” Netanyahu shared, adding that the spot had completely vanished. Netanyahu remains Israel’s longest-serving leader.

He chose to reveal this personal health matter on Friday, coinciding with the release of his annual medical examination results, which he had requested be postponed due to Israel’s ongoing conflict with Iran and its allies.

“I requested to delay its publication by two months so that it would not be released at the height of the war, in order not to allow the Iranian terror regime to spread even more false propaganda against Israel,” Netanyahu said.

The Prime Minister’s Office also released two letters from his doctors accompanying the announcement testifying to his good health.
