Republican claims Trump assassination attempt was 'an inside job'

Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican, made a startling claim regarding an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, suggesting it may have been an “inside job.”

During an appearance on the Pod Force One podcast, hosted by New York Post columnist Miranda Devine, Luna speculated that the Biden administration was behind the alleged assassination plot at a rally in Butler. She expressed her suspicions on Wednesday.

“What stands out about the initial investigation is that it was conducted under Biden’s administration,” Luna remarked.

She also criticized the FBI for what she described as a failure to identify the owner of a bag of cocaine found at the White House, claiming that evidence was subsequently destroyed.

Luna continued, “Regarding the Butler assassination attempt, I’ve previously mentioned that it might have been a case of intentional negligence.”

She further explained her involvement in questioning former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, adding, “Whistleblowers from within the Secret Service have come forward, indicating that agents were either absent or instructed to stand down. On that day, a group of snipers coordinated by local law enforcement was supposed to be present, but they mysteriously didn’t show up.”

Luna went on to say that the area that was ‘left open’ was ‘literally the perfect location to take a shot and, basically, assassinate someone.’

‘Then you have this aspect of the Biden administration that, you know, basically gave limited staffing to a former president with Secret Service, and everything that accumulated and the way that it was, within hours of [would-be assassin Thomas Matthew] Crooks being shot, and basically, neutralized, the entire scene was done,’ she said.

Florida House Republican Anna Paulina Luna theorized on the Pod Force One podcast with New York Post columnist Miranda Devine on Wednesday that the Butler rally assassination attempt on Trump was ‘an inside job’

Luna insinuated that the Butler shooting was an ‘inside job’ by the Biden administration, that was then covered up

Luna continued to tell Devine that she ‘never heard any follow-up’ from the FBI, which was under former FBI Director Christopher Wray at the time, about ‘other burner phones’ or why the ‘lone shooter’ would have had burner phones.

‘What happened to his video game console? I mean, there’s a lot outstanding, and I’ve actually shared this before.. To me, this has all the marks of intelligence, and I believe, an inside job.

‘That’s literally what I think is the ultimate revelation of that.’

Luna said, however, that the assassination attempt in Butler, which saw the then-presidential candidate Trump shot in the ear, is ‘actually under the purview of release by President Trump himself.’

Trump stood in front of the crowd at the Butler rally in Pennsylvania on July 13 when Crooks took aim at the then-former president, grazing his right ear.

The shooting saw the tragic death of former Buffalo Township Fire Company Chief Corey Comperatore and hospitalized two others; David Dutch and James Copenhaver.

The 20-year-old shooter, who had been positioned on top of a nearby roof, was eventually killed by US Secret Service agents.

Upon his return to the scene in October 2024, Trump told the crowd: ‘Exactly 12 weeks ago this evening, on this very ground, a cold-blooded assassin aimed to silence me.

‘For 16 harrowing seconds during the gunfire time stopped as this vicious monster unleashed pure evil from his sniper’s perch not so far away.

‘I will never quit, I will never bend, I will never break, I will never yield, not even in the face of death itself.

‘We have fought together, we have endured together, we have pushed forward together, and right here in Pennsylvania we have bled together.’

Trump recently faced his latest assassination attempt at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, marking the third attempt on his life since the shooting in Butler.

The other 2024 assassination attempt was carried out in Florida by 59-year-old Ryan Routh, who was recently sentenced to life in prison.

The president, however, said that the repeated attempts were because he was making an impact on the world.

‘I must tell you the most impactful people, the people that do the most, you take a look at the people – Abraham Lincoln – I mean, you go through the people that have gone through this where they got ’em, but the people that do the most and the people that make the biggest impact are the ones that they go after,’ Trump told a press conference hours after the dinner on April 25.

The President added that the assassins do not plot attacks against figures that ‘don’t do much because they like it that way.’

He added: ‘Just take a look at the names here. The big names, and I hate to say I’m honored by that, but I’ve done a lot. We’ve done a lot.’

He then claimed that, as President, he has taken the United States from ‘a laughingstock’ to ‘the hottest country in the world.’

Trump believes this was part of the reason shooters have gone after him.

‘We’ve changed this country, and there are a lot of people that are not happy about that,’ Trump said.

Cole Thomas Allen, 31, was accused of storming the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton and allegedly called himself the ‘Friendly Federal Assassin’ in his manifesto.

He sent the anti-Trump writing to his family members just ten minutes before he fired shots at the hotel in Washington, where the ritzy press gala was taking place last weekend.

The harrowing writing was given to the police by a relative, a US official said.

According to the New York Post, Allen’s manifesto read: ‘Turning the other cheek is for when you yourself are oppressed. I’m not the person raped in a detention camp. I’m not the fisherman executed without trial.

‘I’m not a schoolkid blown up or a child starved or a teenage girl abused by the many criminals in this administration. Turning the other cheek when *someone else* is oppressed is not Christian behavior; it is complicity in the oppressor’s crimes.

‘In order to minimize casualties, I will also be using buckshot rather than slugs (less penetration through walls).

‘I would still go through most everyone here to get to the targets if it were absolutely necessary (on the basis that most people *chose* to attend a speech by a pedophile, rapist, and traitor, and are thus complicit) but I really hope it doesn’t come to that.’

His targets included ‘administration officials (not including [FBI Director Kash] Patel): they are targets, prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest.’

Allen wrote, allegedly referencing the President: ‘I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.’

Police revealed the suspect had a number of weapons on him, including a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives.

Evidence found on Allen’s electronic devices and in his writings points towards the theory that he intended to target administration members in attendance at the dinner.

His family members told law enforcement that Allen had sent them some of his disturbing writings before the attack, which prompted one of them to alert police. The writings did not specifically mention the dinner on Saturday.

Another family member told investigators that Allen has made radical statements and that he frequently mentioned plans to do ‘something’ to fix problems with today’s world.

The family added that Allen would regularly visit a shooting range to train with his guns. A senior US official told CBS News that the suspected gunman was part of a group called The Wide Awakes and that he attended a No Kings protest in California.

The Daily Mail reached out to Luna, The White House and the FBI for comment.
