Rudy Giuliani, 81, in critical condition as Trump shares sorrow

Rudy Giuliani, who once stood at the forefront of New York City’s political scene and is a fervent supporter of Donald Trump, found himself in a critical medical situation on Sunday. The former mayor was admitted to a hospital in Florida due to an illness that has not been publicly disclosed.

During his tenure as mayor, Giuliani became a prominent figure, especially known for his leadership in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. Now, his health is in the spotlight as he battles this latest challenge.

“Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same level of strength as we speak,” stated his spokesperson, Ted Goodman. He also appealed to the public, saying, “We do ask that you join us in prayer for America’s Mayor – Rudy Giuliani.”

At 81 years old, Giuliani’s recent public appearance was during a Facebook livestream on Friday night, where his voice was noticeably strained. He began by acknowledging, “My voice is a little under the weather, so I won’t be able to speak as loudly as I usually do,” as he intermittently coughed throughout the stream.

Giuliani, 81, held a livestream on his Facebook page on Friday night where he could be heard coughing.

As it started he said: ‘My voice is a little under the weather so I won’t be able to speak as loudly as I usually do.’

President Trump called Giuliani a ‘True Warrior’ in a post on Truth Social Sunday evening.

‘Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition,’ Trump wrote.

‘What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL — AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!’

Trump then alluded to Giuliani’s unsuccessful mission to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

‘They cheated on the Elections, fabricated hundreds of stories, did anything possible to destroy our Nation, and now, look at Rudy. So sad!’ Trump added.

In November of last year Giuliani was pardoned by Trump among other Republicans for his role in trying to overturn the election against President Biden.

The former NYC mayor gave an infamous speech outside the Four Seasons landscaping business in Pennsylvania as Trump desperately attempted to claw back the presidency.

In 2023, Giuliani filed for bankruptcy with staggering debts of $153 million owed to creditors including two Georgia election workers he defamed.

He filed court documents showing he had less than $10 million in assets after being ordered to pay $148 million in damages to election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss for claiming they tried to rig the vote for former President Joe Biden.

In the filing, Giuliani said he had between $100 million and $500 million in liabilities and $1 million to $10 million in assets.

Under the terms of the settlement he ended up reaching with Freeman and Moss he was able to keep his condo in West Palm Beach.

Former mayor of the city Eric Adams wished Giuliani a speedy recovery in a statement to The New York Post.

He said: ‘We may not always agree politically — but this moment rises above politics. On behalf of Eric Adams, we are wishing strength, good health, and a full recovery to Rudy Giuliani — a man who devoted his life to public service.’

Giuliani was elected New York’s mayor in 1993 after serving as one of the nation’s highest-profile prosecutors, taking on mobsters and crooked Wall Street traders.

He was celebrated for a widespread crackdown on crime using the ‘broken windows’ philosophy and implementing the controversial stop and frisk program.

Giuliani ran for the U.S. Senate in 2000 but abandoned his race against Hillary Clinton after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
