Italian PM Giorgia Meloni shares spicy AI photo of herself as she blasts misinfo — but admits it 'improved me quite a bit'

Talk about a hot topic in Italian politics!

Italy’s Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, recently shared an AI-generated, provocative image of herself, originally posted by a political adversary. Instead of taking offense, she humorously remarked that the image was an enhancement.

The altered photo, depicting the 49-year-old leader lounging on a bed in a revealing slip, was circulated by an X platform user who criticized Meloni as “shameful.” As Italy’s first female prime minister, she took it all in stride.

On Tuesday, Meloni addressed the situation by reposting the image with a clarification that it was indeed a fabrication, albeit an impressive one.

“There are numerous fake images of me floating around, crafted using artificial intelligence. I have to acknowledge that in this instance, the creator has notably improved my appearance,” noted Meloni, who secured her position in 2022.

She further cautioned against the misuse of AI to deceive voters, denouncing all such digitally manipulated content, regardless of its allure.

“Deepfakes are a dangerous tool because they can deceive, manipulate, and strike anyone. I can defend myself. Many others cannot,” she wrote.

Meloni is a conservative who ran on an “Italy first,” tough-on-immigration platform.

She has aligned herself with President Trump — although their public relationship cooled somewhat after Trump’s sharp criticism of Pope Leo XIV.
