A chilling video has surfaced capturing the tragic moment when a 76-year-old retired teacher was violently shoved down a concrete stairway at a Manhattan subway station, leading to his untimely death.
The unsettling incident unfolded as Ross Falzone, the respected former educator, approached the 18th Street subway station in Chelsea around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Suddenly, without any warning, a man approached him from behind and forcefully pushed him with both hands, causing Falzone to tumble helplessly down the stairs.
In the footage, Falzone is seen vanishing into the lights at the base of the stairs. He succumbed to a severe head injury shortly after and was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital.
Following the brutal attack, the suspect was captured on camera nonchalantly walking away. He even had the audacity to gesture for traffic to halt so he could cross the street, subsequently disappearing into the night.
Authorities have since arrested Rhamell Burke, a 32-year-old former Broadway dancer, charging him with murder in connection to this senseless act. Burke is currently being held without bail at Rikers Island.
In a twist of fate, Burke had appeared in court just hours after the crime for an unrelated assault case. However, he was released because no one connected him to the attack captured on the surveillance video at that time.
He was later spotted at Penn Station and arrested in Falcone’s death.
This is a breaking story. Please check back for updates.
