The New York City Police Department is on the hunt for two armed individuals who unleashed a hail of bullets in a Bronx playground before fleeing the scene in a getaway car. Remarkably, the duo was captured on surveillance footage swapping sweaters during their escape.
The incident unfolded at Bathgate Playground, just after 5 p.m., when the assailants confronted a group and one of them opened fire, shooting multiple rounds before making a hasty retreat, according to a statement from the police on Sunday.
Thankfully, no one in the park was struck by the gunfire, but authorities are now seeking the suspects on charges of reckless endangerment.
After the shooting, the pair took off on foot and then jumped into a waiting dark-colored sedan, quickly speeding away down Bathgate Avenue.
Descriptions of the suspects were released: one was dressed in a red sweater over a black t-shirt, paired with black pants and sneakers, while the other sported a light blue sweater with a white t-shirt, complemented by white and black pants and black sneakers.
Surveillance footage reveals the two men removing their sweaters and exchanging them as they made their way across the street.
