A ruthless Brooklyn man has been found guilty of the cold-blooded murder of his ex-girlfriend, who was tragically shot in the head while pushing their three-month-old daughter in a stroller.
Isaac Argro was convicted by a Manhattan jury on Thursday, bringing justice for the harrowing crime that took place on June 29, 2022, when he fatally shot Azsia Johnson on the Upper East Side. The jury reached their verdict swiftly, concluding deliberations in just two hours.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr. commented on the case, stating, “This brutal execution devastated all of Ms. Johnson’s loved ones, including her devoted family members who attended the trial each day. I hope this conviction gives them some sense of justice.”
Johnson, a young mother, had been living in constant fear of Argro. To safeguard herself, her infant, and her older child from a previous relationship, she had sought refuge in a domestic violence shelter in East Harlem.
“I hope this conviction gives them some sense of justice.”
The young moim was terrified of Argro and had been living in an East Harlem domestic violence shelter to protect herself, the infant and her older child, who she had in a previous relationship, from his wrath.
Argro, who Johnson’s mother Lisa DeSort once described as a rage-filled wannabe gangster, stalked and abused Johnson, who filed multiple police reports against him.
But her family said she wanted to make sure her daughter had a relationship with her dad, so she agreed to meet up with him.
It was only the second time Argro laid eyes on his young child when he murdered Johnson.
The twisted killer fled the scene and was arrested two days later.
“Argo subjected Azsia Johnson to extensive physical and emotional abuse before she finally had the immense bravery to leave him in order to protect herself and her children,” Bragg said.
“She was a loving mother who was determined to give coparenting a try, despite Argro’s ongoing campaign of harassment.”
DeSort took to Facebook to celebrate that justice for her aspiring pediatric nurse daughter has finally been served.
“No one can say anything negative about DA BRAGG TO ME! His whole team is amazing!” she wrote.
“My baby girl got her justice and put this monster right where he needs to be!”
Argro is due back in court June 18 for sentencing.
His lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
