An Australian man is accused of causing significant damage in Da Nang, with reports estimating the costs in the thousands, before being apprehended by police while dressed only in his underwear.
Surveillance footage captured during the early hours shows the man abruptly rising from his seat and smashing a phone belonging to another patron, who was using it to assist with translation.
Witnesses reported that the man ominously declared, “You have ten seconds to leave.”
The video further depicts the individual wielding a chair as a makeshift battering ram, targeting the front counter, a coffee machine, and eventually the establishment’s front windows.
The man was also seen rummaging through the belongings of customers who had fled the scene, at one point breaking a laptop in half.
A group of onlookers, observing the chaos from the second floor, watched in disbelief as the man made his way toward them.
He kicked the door open before putting one man in a headlock.
Police officers begin to assemble outside before rushing in and arresting him.
The cafe was forced to shut for up to three days.
Owners are seeking compensation for a damage bill reportedly as high as $26,000
The man remains in temporary detention for questioning
