Chicago man Andrew Anania sentenced in kidnapping, sexually assaulting drivers at gunpoint; Walter Moran also convicted

In Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, a troubling case has emerged involving a local volunteer firefighter. Justin Sholly, a 29-year-old member of the Perseverance Volunteer Fire Company, is facing serious allegations of arson. Authorities have charged him with multiple felony counts after a series of fires were allegedly set in late October.

According to officials, Sholly is accused of igniting three separate blazes in the areas of Souderton and Franconia Township over the span of approximately 24 hours. What makes this case particularly disturbing is the claim that Sholly, after reportedly setting these fires, would then join his fire company colleagues in responding to the very emergencies he allegedly created.

The fires resulted in significant damage, reportedly affecting two barns and several vehicles. This series of incidents has raised concerns within the community, highlighting the potential for betrayal of trust in roles designed to protect public safety.

Sholly was taken into custody on Tuesday, and the charges against him underscore the severity of the accusations. As investigations continue, the case serves as a stark reminder of the responsibilities that come with positions of public trust and the potential consequences when those responsibilities are breached.

In each case, investigators say Sholly would then respond with his fire company to put them out.

Two barns and several vehicles were damaged.

Police say license plate readers helped them identify Sholly as the suspect.

They also say he allegedly admitted to the arsons after being confronted.

He allegedly used fire starter logs, which were found in his vehicle.

“Certainly never thought he was capable of doing something like that,” said Nick Clemmer, who lives near a storage barn that burned early Friday morning, and called 911.

Clemmmer knew Sholly and never thought he would do something like this.

“He worked at the boys and girls clubs where my kids went when they were younger,” Clemmer continued.

In total, 18 civilians were put into harms way, and had to be evacuated because of the fires. No one was injured.
