FAIRFIELD, Calif. — In a heartbreaking incident on Wednesday evening, one individual lost their life and three others were wounded in a shooting that unfolded following a graduation ceremony at Fairfield High School, as confirmed by the Fairfield Police Department.

The victim who died was identified as an 18-year-old. The other injured individuals include an 11-year-old, a 20-year-old, and a 25-year-old.

Authorities reported that officers were dispatched to the scene around 7:15 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the parking area of Fairfield High School, shortly after the conclusion of the Sem Yeto High School graduation ceremony, according to KXTV.

Four individuals sustained gunshot injuries, with one succumbing to their wounds. The remaining three victims were transported to a hospital for medical care.

Earlier in the evening, Suisun City Mayor Alma Hernandez took to Facebook to share that three people had been shot and mentioned an “active shooter chase,” adding to the urgency of the situation.
