GOG apologizes for emailing people Nazi symbols

The game in question immerses players in a fantastical world inspired by Slavic mythology and traditions. In its promotional email, GOG incorporated Slavic runes, including the Sowilō symbol, which signifies “sun.” However, GOG explained that due to certain technical nuances, platforms like mobile phones misrepresented this rune as ϟ.

Further complicating matters, a verified GOG representative addressed the issue on Reddit, sparking additional inquiries.

This has prompted many to wonder about the rationale behind sending the newsletter to various regions and the reason for the symbol’s duplication.

The game’s developers have also voiced their bewilderment in a Reddit thread, stating, “We have no idea why GOG included symbols in their newsletter. Honestly, we were as surprised as anyone else when we noticed the old logo and symbols alongside the newsletter title.”

The developers of the game have also expressed confusion, posting in a Reddit thread, “We don’t know why GOG used symbols in their newsletter. Really, we were also totally surprised when we saw the logo in the newsletter (the old logo) and the symbols next to the newsletter title.”
