Six Wounded, Including Children, in Maryland Mass Shooting as Detectives Investigate

Six people, including two children, were injured in an early Saturday shooting in Maryland, local officials said.

In a statement posted on X, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said officers were called around 4:40 a.m. to reports of an “unknown disturbance” in Hanover, a Baltimore-area suburb. When they arrived, police found a large crowd scattering from the scene and a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.

Emergency medical crews transported the man to a hospital with injuries authorities described as non-life-threatening.

But investigators soon learned the incident involved more victims than initially apparent.

As the morning unfolded, detectives received reports from three nearby hospitals that multiple people had arrived on their own seeking care for gunshot injuries.

Police said those five additional walk-in victims were a woman shot in an extremity, two boys with injuries to their lower extremities, and a man and woman who also sustained lower-extremity gunshot wounds.

Authorities said all six victims are receiving treatment and none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

“Detectives are conducting interviews with the victims to determine what occurred during this event,” the department said.

“This investigation is active and further details will be released once the investigation concludes.”
