An American Forces Network employee who died Tuesday after a vehicle crash near a California military base was later found to have suffered a gunshot wound, authorities said.

The employee, whose name has not been released, was on the way to work at March Air Reserve Base, about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, when the incident happened around 8 a.m., according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, NBC LA reported.
