Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Willie Taiwan Rollins Jr., 33, was taken into custody yesterday on a warrant accusing him of sending written threats to kill his former girlfriend.

According to the responding Gainesville Police Department officer, the victim received 47 calls from Rollins on June 22, along with three text messages that contained death threats. She also reportedly received a voicemail from Rollins in which he said he had gone to her home and planned to return to kill her.

The victim has reported similar incidents dating back to January 2026, including written threats on June 12 and June 13. On June 22, Rollins allegedly wrote that he was going to “put u in da grave yard” and “kill you.”

The officer reported calling Rollins and speaking with him briefly. About a minute later, Rollins allegedly sent the victim another text message from the same number, threatening to “smoke yo mf bootz,” which the victim interpreted as a threat to shoot her.

Rollins is also accused of leaving a voicemail for the victim’s daughter, saying he had been to the victim’s residence that day and instructing the daughter to tell the victim he would return later to kill her.

The officer wrote that the threats appeared credible because Rollins knows where the victim lives and works.

Rollins, listed as homeless in the arrest report, has been charged with domestic aggravated stalking and making a written threat to kill. He has six felony convictions, including three for violent offenses, and 10 non-violent misdemeanor convictions; he has served four state prison sentences and was most recently released in 2024. A similar sworn complaint filed in January 2026 accused Rollins of aggravated stalking and making a written threat to kill the same victim, but those charges were later dropped. He is also facing two sworn complaints for domestic stalking involving the same victim, along with a separate case in which he allegedly jumped out of a bush at another victim while armed with a gun; in that incident, he allegedly broke the victim’s window before fleeing when he heard officers arrive.

Judge Joy Danne ordered him held without bail, as set by Judge James Colaw in Rollins’s arrest warrant.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
