'Predator' accused of killing 2 women and raping a third, court hears

A convicted serial sex offender described in court as “predatory” has gone on trial accused of murdering two women and raping a third.

Simon Levy is alleged to have targeted vulnerable women while believing he could evade justice, following what prosecutors described as a seven-year pattern of sexual offending dating back to July 2018.

The 40-year-old, who is partially blind, is said to have preyed on sex workers in London over an eight-month period last year.

Jurors were told that four months after being arrested on suspicion of the first murder, Levy was released by police and allegedly went on to kill again in August last year.

The Old Bailey heard today that Levy, characterised by the prosecution as a “predatory sexual attacker,” has a significant number of previous convictions for sexual offences against women.

Prosecutor Tom Little KC told the jury that Levy had committed 13 sexual assaults between July 2018 and May 2025, including six alleged attacks around the period of the first rape and murder.

In January 2025, Levy is accused of raping his first victim and strangling her until she lost consciousness.

The 35-year-old sex worker, who survived the alleged attack, told police she feared she was going to die after Levy suddenly jumped on top of her, breaking her clavicle, the court heard.

She claimed that he put his hands over her face smothering her, while he put a finger down her throat so she could not make any noise, telling her: ‘Shut up, be quiet, I got you.’

Levy is said to have left victim ‘as good as for dead’, but she later recovered consciousness.

Two months later Levy allegedly struck again, killing another woman before fleeing leaving her face down.

The body of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo was found in a stairwell of a disused block of flats in Southwark, south-east London, on March 17 last year.

A pipe smeared with the defendant’s blood was found ‘right next’ to the victim and his DNA was found on her body, it was alleged.

Levy was arrested on April 1, but he answered ‘no comment’ when asked about the death of the 53-year-old drug user, who had suffered a neck compression and facial injuries.

Police then released Levy after her cause of death was deemed to be ‘unascertained’.

Levy is accused of carrying out a second murder months later on August 24 last year.

The body of Sheryl Wilkins was discovered behind a wall in a car park in Tottenham in the same location as the first rape attack, which is close to the defendant’s home.

The 39-year-old was found face down with 83 injuries to her face and head, upper body and arms and legs.

Her cause of death was considered ‘unascertained’, but Mr Little said it could have been caused by smothering of the nose and mouth, neck compression or an assailant compressing the victim’s chest.

Levy’s DNA was also found on her body, jurors were told.

Today the prosecutor described Levy as a ‘predatory serial sexual attacker’ with a long history of attacks on women.

He told jurors: ‘Sexual offending is something the defendant does.

‘The defendant is somebody who has a large number of convictions for sexual offences upon women.

‘On 30th September 2021 he was convicted, following a trial, of sexual assault committed on 29th July 2018 and sexual assault by penetration committed on 26th August 2018.

‘Even closer in time to the events that you are considering the Defendant was convicted earlier this year, on 5th February 2026, of a series of sexual assaults on different women.

‘In fact 11 sexual assaults between April 2022 and May 2025. Six of those offences occurring in first five months of 2025, the same year that these three women were attacked.

‘So it’s a raft of offences including sexual touching and activity which was not consensual. That tells you everything you need to know about his attitude and approach to women, which is relevant to what happened to the victims before they were killed.’

Siobhan Grey, KC, said the prosecution case was built on ‘coincidence’, adding that there was no proof the victims were murdered: ‘There is a real issue about whether these women were unlawfully killed at all or whether they died from a drug related death.’

She said Levy’s previous convictions were ‘wholly different’ from the charges.

Levy denies the two murders, claiming that he had consensual sex with both women.

He also denies two charges of rape, grievous bodily harm with intent, and non-fatal suffocation.
