A Minnesota man is accused of stabbing an employee at the group home where he lived after allegedly threatening to kill him.

Luke McLane, 33, remains jailed at the Stearns County Jail on charges of second-degree murder and assault with a dangerous weapon. A criminal complaint obtained by local news outlet Star Tribune says McLane allegedly directed verbal threats at 30-year-old Glapoujay Garmondeh, an employee of St. Luke Home in Cold Spring, Minnesota.

Cold Spring police officers were called to the residence at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday following reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Garmondeh lying outside on the ground with a stab wound to his neck. Authorities said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Citing details from the criminal complaint, local ABC affiliate KSTP reported that witnesses at the group home told investigators they saw McLane pursuing Garmondeh. Once McLane was on top of him, witnesses said, he shouted, “I’m going to kill you.”

Local NBC affiliate KARE reported that officers arrived as the attack was ending and saw McLane holding a knife with blood on his clothing. Police said they heard him tell Garmondeh, “I told you I was gonna do it.” McLane was taken into custody and booked into the Stearns County Jail, where he is being held without bail. Information about his next court appearance was not immediately available.

St. Luke Home is operated by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud, which confirmed in a statement that Garmondeh was an employee. In the statement obtained by the Star Tribune, Aaron Fisk, the organization’s president and CEO, said staff members were “deeply saddened by the tragic incident that resulted in the loss of life of an employee at our Cold Spring group home. Our hearts are with the individual’s family, loved ones, and all those impacted by this loss.”
