Brooklyn shooting leaves 8 wounded including 4 kids, while watching fireworks on Coney Island

Eight people — among them four children — were wounded by gunfire Saturday night while out in Brooklyn for Fourth of July fireworks, prompting officers to race in and carry young victims to safety, sources and video show.

Police said the shooting erupted around 10:35 p.m. at 2930 W. 30th St. near Surf Avenue in Coney Island, a short distance from the boardwalk, where a fireworks show had been scheduled for 9:45 p.m.

Detectives and uniformed officers quickly flooded the area outside the Seapark Apartments, with video capturing police sprinting along the street while holding injured children as they sought medical help.

“When I see in the camera I see the cops running with the kids in their hands,” a deli worker on the corner told the Post.

“When I went out I saw one kid was going into the ambulance and I was told there were four inside.”

Authorities had not immediately determined how many shooters were involved or what led to the gunfire, though people who live nearby said the block has long had a reputation for violence.

“It’s so sad they won’t enjoy themselves without them killing each other. This building is always partying. I came home to have fun and now this. This building always has some trouble,” said a local resident who gave her name as Mackenzie.

The wounded included a 33-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman who were shot in the chest; a 25-year-old woman, a 14-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy and a 7-year-old boy struck in the legs or thigh; a 37-year-old man shot in the shoulder; and a 6-year-old boy shot in the stomach.

Seven of the victims are in stable condition, while the 21-year-old female is in critical condition.

The victims range in age from 12 years old to 37 years old.

Mackenzie explained that the building is known for raucous activity.

“This building is always partying,” she said.

“I came home to have fun and now this? This building always has some trouble.”

The deli worker interviewed by the post added: “The cops, they say they found a book bag with a gun under the trees.

“I was scared to be honest. I think there was more than one shooter with so many [that were] hit.”

All victims were transported to local hospitals.

The incident remains under investigation.

“It’s nothing new over here honestly,” a neighbor told the Post.
