NY Republican Party urges Jewish voters to join GOP, claim Dems like Mamdani show 'worst kind of antisemitism'

The New York State Republican Party is rolling out a new advertising push aimed at persuading Jewish voters to align with the GOP, while charging Democrats — including Mayor Zohran Mamdani — with either encouraging or tolerating antisemitism.

The campaign, which is running in Jewish publications and on social media platforms targeting heavily Jewish audiences, features an open letter from state GOP Chairman Ed Cox addressed “To Our Jewish Neighbors and Fellow New Yorkers.”

“The New York State Republican Party stands with you. Unequivocally,” Cox wrote in the message.

“We consider Israel a democratic miracle, America’s indispensable ally, and proof that the Jewish people’s ancient covenant with their land was not a relic of history but a promise to be fulfilled,” the letter said.

“We stand against antisemitism wherever it appears, because we understand what Judaism has given the world. Jewish scripture is central to the moral architecture of Western civilization.”

Cox goes on to sharply criticize Mamdani and other Democratic figures, accusing them of enabling antisemitism or, at minimum, failing to confront it forcefully.

“We watch with sadness as the Democratic Party, which alleges to stand for marginalized groups, spirals into that ugliest and oldest hatred, anti-Semitism,” he wrote.

“Zohran Mamdani’s statement calling AIPAC and its members ‘monsters’ has no place in American political discourse,” Cox said, referring to Mamdani’s comments about the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

“It is the worst kind of antisemitism.”

Cox ripped Gov. Kathy Hochul and House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for endorsing Mamdani’s campaign for mayor and Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who is Jewish, claiming he “cowers in silence.”

“We stand with our fellow patriotic Americans at AIPAC, as they work to strengthen the American-Israeli relationship and fight the scourge of antisemitism that has found a home in the Democratic Party and is championed by New York City’s mayor,” Cox said in the letter.

He claimed Jews were leaving the Democratic Party “in droves.”

“From Maine to Michigan to New Jersey to right here in New York, you are told you are no longer welcome. Please know that, unlike the Democratic Party, the New York State Republican Party values you and would be proud to have you among our ranks. You have a home with us,” Cox said.

Mamdani and his allies in the Democratic Socialists of America are staunch critics of Israel.

The mayor even supports the boycott, sanctions and divestment campaign against the Jewish state, which the Anti-Defamation League describes as a form of antisemitism.

The three Mamdani-backed House candidates who won Democratic primary elections last month — Darializa Avila Chevalier, Claire Valdez and Brad Lander, who is Jewish — are Israel bashers who accuse the Jewish state of genocide in Gaza.

Mamdani and other critics maintain they’re pro-Palestinian critics of Israel, but that they oppose antisemitism.

The mayor does not support Israel existing as a Jewish state.
