Authorities in Southern California are searching for a 44-year-old mother and nurse who disappeared while she was supposed to be picking up her child from summer camp.
Angelica Brophy was last seen July 6 after visiting Harrah’s Resort Southern California casino before driving to Palomar Mountain, a place relatives said she often went, according to KNSD. When she failed to collect her daughter later that afternoon, her husband reported her missing to the Oceanside Police Department.
Investigators attempted to contact Brophy by cellphone, but the device was either turned off or had no power. Several days later, police located her vehicle in a parking lot at Palomar State Park, but Brophy was nowhere to be found.

Brophy’s family told the station they are holding on to hope as the search continues. She works as a nurse at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Marcos, California.
“I don’t want to go to dark places,” one of her brothers said. “We’re trying to encourage everybody to stay positive, stay strong.”
Her sister-in-law, Lisa Fabregas, described Brophy as deeply caring, saying, “She is one of the most wonderful, thoughtful women that I know.”

“She’s a very good mom. She will do anything for her children,” Fabregas said. “She is funny and kooky, and will sing at the top of her lungs and will not have one note in tune, but she does not care.”
A missing persons poster made by the family states that Brophy is 5’5″ and was last seen wearing black leggings and a grey T-shirt.

So far, Oceanside Police Captain Nick Nunez told the outlet nothing points to foul play in Brophy’s disappearance.
Nunez said detectives are reaching out to Harrah’s Casino to determine if she was with anyone or was being followed.
People with information about Brophy’s disappearance are asked to contact Oceanside Police at (760) 435-4900.
