The distraught great-grandmother of missing teenager Sophia Cover has made an emotional appeal for the 16-year-old to come back home.
“Sophia! This is grandma,” she said in a video shared on Facebook by the missing girl’s devastated father.
“I love you. I love you. I love you. It’s time you come home! I want to see you again! I’m waiting for you, Sophia. I love you. I love you. I love you!”
The heartbreaking message is part of a growing plea from Sophia Cover’s family after the Florida teen vanished from her home on July 31 without explanation.
Surveillance video captured Cover walking out of her home in Golden Gate Estates at about 12:45 a.m. The community is located roughly 40 miles south of Fort Myers.
Her father, Richard Cover, has launched an urgent search for Sophia, turning to social media and the local community as he looks for any information that could help explain her mysterious disappearance.
“Everybody is looking for you. And, if you’re out there on your own, it’s really easy to come home. You can go to any police officer. You can go to any adult that is safe,” he said.
Authorities describe Sophia as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 115 pounds, with brown eyes and long brown hair.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239-252-9300.
