Man Accused of Killing Parents After They Bailed Him Out Twice Should Have Been Jailed, Sheriff Says

A 35-year-old man accused of fatally shooting his parents before taking his own life had a lengthy and violent criminal history, according to investigators.

Deputies said Justin Sislo is believed to have killed his parents in an apparent murder-suicide Friday in Madison, New York, officials confirmed to News Outlet.

The victims, identified as 76-year-old Steve Sislo and 72-year-old Donna Walker-Sislo, were discovered dead inside their home on McCormick Road.

In a statement, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said: “While observing the residence from the exterior, the first responding Deputy observed two adult subjects, obviously deceased, through a main level window. Upon making entry to the home, a third adult subject was located deceased inside.”

Authorities said the couple had recently posted $10,000 bail for their son after his arrest in connection with a domestic violence case involving two dozen charges. Investigators said his parents had bailed him out of jail twice within the same month.

Deputies said Justin Sislo had been arrested on July 29.

Sislo’s father was a prominent businessman and philanthropist involved in numerous “local organizations, including the Capitol Theatre and the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce,” the Rome Daily Sentinel reported.

Authorities uncovered several guns at the suspect’s home during his most recent arrest. He also allegedly had two protective orders that banned him from having firearms, deputies say.

Court records reveal Sislo was charged with “strangulation” and “endangering an incompetent” in Cayuga County in June.
