Authorities in New Jersey are investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman found inside her Somerville home.
The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said 46-year-old Alyne Espinal was discovered with multiple lacerations to her chest, neck and thigh. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her husband, 55-year-old Ignacio Espinal, was taken into custody Tuesday in West New York, New Jersey.

Police were called to a residence on Brookside Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday after a 911 caller reported concerns about the welfare of a woman who lived there.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that the case remains active, stating that the information released so far is based on “a preliminary and ongoing investigation” as detectives continue interviewing witnesses, reviewing physical and electronic records and analyzing forensic evidence.
Espinal is facing charges of first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree hindering.
