WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Wilbur, the runaway pig seen trotting through a West Hollywood neighborhood, has a new place to call home.
The pig became an internet favorite after video of him running loose over the weekend spread widely online. He was later safely captured and brought to the West L.A. Animal Shelter, but no owner came forward to claim him.
By Thursday, four people had arrived at the shelter hoping to adopt Wilbur. Because of the strong interest, officials held a silent auction to decide who would be able to take him home.
The winning bid came from Marcia Zwilling, who was acting on behalf of Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren.
“Diane saw the news clips and saw the little pig running in West Hollywood and she just called me and said, ‘Please get the pig, get the pig!’,” said Zwilling, managing director of the Diane Warren Foundation.
Wilbur’s next chapter will unfold at a seven-acre animal sanctuary in Malibu.

Zwilling said the newly adopted pig will be surrounded by other animals and treated to gourmet salads every day.
“The pig is going to have a wonderful, wonderful home. The last time there was a runaway it was a cow that escaped a slaughterhouse if you remember that story and Diane saw it and said, ‘get the pig. Save the pig,'” she said.
Warren is absolutely thrilled to welcome Wilbur home.
“I lose Oscars but I won a pig… it’s fun. It’s fun,” Warren said.
Warren already has a pig named Wilbur at her animal sanctuary, so she is considering changing his name.
She thinks the name “Hollywood” would be a good fit.
