Two Southern California businesses were looted during separate street takeover incidents Sunday night, authorities said, including a Boyle Heights pharmacy that was targeted after a crowd of about 100 people gathered nearby.
The first burglary was reported at approximately 11 p.m. at Lorena Pharmacy, located in the 3400 block of Whittier Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to the California Post.
Footage captured at the scene appears to show two people cutting into the pharmacy with a saw before allegedly loading baskets with store merchandise and running off.
Investigators said the break-in unfolded as roughly 100 people were in the area for a street takeover, and police believe up to 10 individuals ultimately went inside the pharmacy.
Within minutes, authorities were called to a second burglary less than two miles away.
At around 11:15 p.m., officers responded to a Jack in the Box near South Downey Road and East Olympic Boulevard in East Los Angeles, where another street takeover was taking place.
According to the LAPD, three suspects entered the fast-food restaurant, and two masked individuals allegedly stole two cash registers before leaving the scene.
Police have not announced any arrests in connection with either burglary, and no injuries were reported.
The incidents come as authorities investigate a string of burglaries connected to street takeovers across the Los Angeles area. Several AutoZone locations were also burglarized during similar events earlier this month.
The back-to-back break-ins are raising fresh concerns about large crowds gathering for illegal street takeovers and whether businesses are being targeted when police resources are pulled toward crowd and traffic control.
The investigation into both Sunday night burglaries remains ongoing.
