NYPD warns public to avoid Times Square amid officer-involved shooting

NYPD Warns Public Away From Times Square After Police Shooting

The NYPD asked the public to steer clear of a heavily traveled Times Square intersection Monday afternoon while officers investigated a police-involved shooting.

Authorities advised people to avoid the area around West 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue, warning that traffic and pedestrian delays were likely nearby.

The NYPD confirmed to News Outlet that a police-involved shooting had occurred, though officials did not immediately release further information.

Police sources told Fox 5 New York that two people were reportedly stabbed before the suspected attacker, identified as a woman, was confronted by NYPD officers.

According to the outlet, the woman was reportedly receiving CPR after the confrontation.

A witness wrote on social media that a woman was “running around stabbing people.” Video shared online appeared to show a woman holding what looked like a knife as she moved toward a group of police officers before being shot.

It was not immediately known whether any NYPD officers were hurt in the Times Square incident.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
