Two police officers were wounded Wednesday when shots erupted in downtown Minneapolis, according to officials.
Minneapolis police responded to what the city described as a shooting with “multiple victims,” a group that included the two law enforcement officers. Sources told Fox News one officer was struck in the shin and the other in the abdomen.
Details about their conditions were not immediately available.
Sources also said the suspected gunman was down.

The downtown Minneapolis shooting drew a major police response, with authorities flooding the area as the investigation unfolded.
“My public safety team is responding to a shooting that took place downtown Minneapolis this afternoon,” Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz wrote on X. “State officials are on the ground to support local law enforcement and we will share more information as it becomes available.”

In a subsequent post, Walz thanked law enforcement for “working to ensure the safety of our neighbors” in the area.
“Minnesota is praying for our first responders,” he wrote.
Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in nearby St. Paul were responding to the scene.
