Simone Biles teases bombshell gymnastics return with practice flips

Could Simone Biles be teasing a gymnastics comeback ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics?

The speculation picked up after Biles shared footage on Instagram from World Champions Center in the Houston area, the family-owned gym where she spent years training on her way to becoming one of the most decorated athletes in Olympic gymnastics history, including seven Olympic gold medals.

‘Whew, okay, I’m at the gym,’ Biles told viewers in the clip, as the words ‘old girl, same tricks’ appeared across the top of the video. ‘I’m just playing around to see if I’ve still got it.’

Biles then launched into a series of flips from a trampoline into a foam pit packed with soft polyurethane blocks. While she was not focused on sticking perfect landings, the explosive skills still appeared to take real energy from the 29-year-old Olympic icon.

After one attempt, a visibly winded Biles turned toward the person filming, who checked in to ask whether she was all right.

‘No, it feels like I just did a floor routine,’ Biles joked.

Satisfied that she’d done enough for the day, Biles addressed the camera once again.

‘Whew, whew, I’m done,’ said Biles, who was in attendance at the US Open in New York on Tuesday night. ‘I feel like I just competed a floor routine. I can’t breathe, so I’m leaving.’

And in case her physical exertion wasn’t already clear, Biles captioned the video: ‘scheduling a massage ASAP.’

Biles has not competed since the Paris Summer Games in 2024 when she won three gold medals and a silver, taking her Olympics tally to 11.

Yet, she sparked some comeback talk last month with a series of photos posted on social media.

The first snap was taken inside the World Champions Center, the Texas gym owned by her parents, Ron and Nellie Biles, where she developed into the world’s top gymnast.

A foam pit, various beams, a trampoline and a banner that read, ‘The World is Yours!’, could be seen in the photo.

In a second photo, Biles showed the inside of her locker, featuring beauty and wellness products, a hand-drawn poster and a polaroid as well as what appeared to be gymnastic equipment.

‘Just how I left it,’ Biles captioned the post, which also included an adorable mini goat stuffed animal.

The photos immediately raised eyebrows with fans begging the icon not to get their hopes up over a comeback.

Biles has remained coy on the subject of her returning to the sport for the next Olympics on her home soil.

Speaking at the Ready25 conference in Australia last year, Biles dropped a tantalizing clue that she might not be done with the Olympics just yet.

Asked directly if she’d consider competing in LA, the American superstar said simply: ‘Never say never.’

Should Simone Biles risk her legacy by aiming for another Olympic run at age 32?

It had been widely believed that Paris would mark the end of Biles’s competitive career – a crowning send-off for the gymnastics queen.

However, while Biles has spoken in the past about the intense mental and physical demands of Olympic preparation, she’s also never fully ruled out the idea of continuing.

If she does compete in Los Angeles, Biles would become the first American gymnast to appear in four Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, during her break away from the sport, Biles has spent her time cheering on her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, who is currently gearing up towards his first season with the Indianapolis Colts.

She also revealed to People last November that she has taken up horseback riding and ice skating in her free time.
