Four Green Bay police officers were injured early Saturday after a vehicle drove toward a group of people and officers in Wisconsin, authorities said.
Green Bay Police Department officers were called to a disturbance involving a food truck at approximately 2:15 a.m. local time. As officers worked to take several people into custody, a car moved toward bystanders and police. One officer fired a weapon during the incident.
The driver sped away, triggering a brief police pursuit. Officers ended the chase by using a PIT maneuver, a tactical technique designed to force a fleeing vehicle to stop.
Police took the driver into custody without further incident. The person is suspected of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
All four officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated by medical personnel.
Authorities said no one was injured by the gunfire.
At a later news conference, Green Bay Police Chief Chris Davis said investigators had not determined whether the driver was connected to the disturbance at the food truck.
Davis also said that some of the officers were hurt while trying to detain people before the vehicle entered the crowd.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office will support the Green Bay Police Department’s investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
