Forget designer handbags: Burger King has sparked a scramble for a purse that looks as though it was lifted straight from a box of chicken nuggets.
The fast-food chain’s unusual accessory, called “Le Nugguette,” sells for just $3.99. Online resellers, however, are asking as much as $496 for the tiny novelty bag.
Burger King created the micro purse to mark the nationwide launch of its revamped chicken nuggets earlier this month, along with an updated range of dipping sauces.
Designed to look like a breaded chicken nugget, the miniature bag features a suede-like texture and a golden-brown finish.
Every purse includes one randomly chosen charm inspired by Burger King’s sauces: Honey Mustard, Buffalo, Sweet & Sour or the new Special Savory Sauce.
There is also a snack included with the purchase. Each bag comes with a code that can be redeemed for a free four-piece order of chicken nuggets.
Burger King is offering only 100 purses per day through September 16, bringing the total production run to just 500 bags.
That limited release has made the drops highly competitive. Fans have reported that the nugget-shaped purses vanished almost instantly after going on sale at noon Eastern Time.
One Instagram user said the accessory had sold out “IMMEDIATELY,” while another claimed the website went live only to show that the purse was already unavailable.

The quirky design has attracted plenty of attention on social media. One Reddit user called it “pretty cute,” while another said they would buy one “just to have a conversation starter.”
Not everyone was impressed, though. The purse’s unusual shape inspired a series of crude nicknames, including “Burger King ballsack bag” and “scrote tote.”
For other shoppers, however, the bag’s extremely small size is part of its appeal.
Micro-bags have developed into a fashion trend of their own, and Reddit users noted that the $3.99 price is exceptionally low compared with many novelty handbags.
The real challenge, it seems, is not affording Burger King’s nugget purse but managing to secure one before the limited supply disappears.
One Reddit user complained that it would be ‘virtually impossible’ to get one before bots snapped them up, while another compared the experience to trying to buy tickets through Ticketmaster.
There are already signs that scarcity has created a secondary market for the nugget-shaped bags.
Current eBay listings show Le Nugguette being offered for hundreds of dollars, including one listing at $496.
It is important to note that these are asking prices rather than confirmed sale prices, so they do not necessarily mean shoppers are actually paying $399.

‘You’ll see it on EBay selling for $399 until it cools down,’ one Reddit user predicted.
Another joked that ‘the market is the scalpers,’ while others suggested Burger King should offer discounted nuggets to anyone who actually brought the purse into a restaurant.
Burger King, meanwhile, appears to be fully embracing the unexpected collision of fast food and high fashion.
Allison Smith, Burger King’s vice president of marketing communications for the US and Canada, said the company wanted to have fun by bringing ‘fashion and food together.’
