Navam Kaul and Malaika Chitre were embracing and kissing on a Manhattan subway platform shortly before they were both killed by an arriving train last weekend, according to law enforcement sources.
The 24-year-old New Jersey residents were seen together at the Spring Street station at approximately 3:15 p.m. Sunday, sources said.
Kaul reportedly lost his footing and fell onto the tracks, striking his head. Chitre then went down after him, apparently attempting to help, according to investigators.
Security video captured the two young professionals sitting on the tracks moments before an incoming No. 4 train hit them.
The disturbing footage appears to show Kaul and Chitre sitting quietly on the subway tracks as the train approached, leaving them with no time to escape.
Authorities have been examining whether the pair were so intoxicated that they failed to grasp the danger they faced, sources previously told The Post.
Investigators do not currently believe the deaths were the result of a double suicide, according to sources.
Friends and relatives described Kaul and Chitre as longtime companions and recent Rutgers University graduates who had only just begun their professional lives.
