Actress Selma Blair was arrested after allegedly biting a flight attendant aboard a Delta Air Lines flight traveling from Los Angeles to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday night.
Two flight attendants reported injuries, and one was taken to a hospital, according to the Port Authority Police Department. A law enforcement source said one attendant was bitten while the other suffered a laceration.
Blair’s attorney said the actress experienced a medical emergency during the flight but did not provide further details. Blair has been open about her struggle with multiple sclerosis.
The incident occurred at about 11 p.m. aboard Delta Flight 938. A law enforcement source said members of the crew had to restrain Blair.
Air traffic control audio captured the pilot requesting medical personnel at the gate.
“Ah, a bloody nose as well as some bite marks as well, so I don’t think we need an ambulance or anything like that but if we could get some medical personnel at the gate, to look at their injuries,” the pilot said in audio obtained by ATC.com. “It sounds like the disruptive passenger also bashed her head on the bulkhead or something like that, so we’ll obviously have to get her potentially checked out as well as well as law enforcement.”
Port Authority Police and the FBI responded to the aircraft. The FBI said it was investigating a “potential assault” that occurred on the plane.
Blair, 54, was taken to Jamaica Hospital for evaluation following the incident.
A law enforcement source said Blair allegedly kicked a Port Authority officer inside the ambulance and later assaulted a nurse at the hospital.

A source in the district attorney’s office confirmed that Blair was later released from the hospital and taken to Queens Central Booking for arraignment on two counts of assault. The state charges stem from the alleged incidents involving the ambulance and hospital. A law enforcement source said the FBI also issued her a summons for assaults within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States.
Blair remains in custody. She had been traveling with her service dog, which is now with her attorney.
“Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition,” Blair’s attorney said. The attorney did not identify the medical emergency.
Blair has been outspoken about her struggle with multiple sclerosis. In 2025, she discussed the challenges of traveling with the condition in interviews with People magazine and Travel & Leisure. Her 2022 memoir includes a chapter titled “Bite Me,” in which she wrote about biting other celebrities during past incidents involving alcohol.
“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first,” the airline said in a statement.
Blair is known for appearing in films including “Cruel Intentions,” “Legally Blonde” and “Hellboy.” She also competed on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2022.
