CHICAGO () — Joseph “Troubles” Matos, the suspect accused of killing Chicago National Guardsman Chrys Carvajal, has been added to the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list.
The FBI alleges that Matos is a member of the Milwaukee Kings street gang.
Authorities also announced a new $1 million reward for information leading to Matos’ arrest and conviction.
Matos is identifiable by several tattoos, including “1300” on the left side of his neck and “M-Town kings” on the right side.
Carvajal was shot and killed after leaving a Fourth of July party in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood in 2021.

Carvajal’s family said police arrested Matos shortly after the killing, but the state’s attorney’s office concluded there was not enough evidence to file charges at the time.
The U.S. attorney’s office has since charged Matos with racketeering and gun offenses.
Matos and Gary Roberson were federally charged in connection with Carvajal’s murder three years ago.
Roberson remains in federal custody on charges related to Carvajal’s death. His trial is scheduled to begin early next year.
