Young Girl Escapes Basement After Illegal Migrant Stabs Her

A 15-year-old girl made a frantic escape from a Baltimore property after authorities say she was kidnapped and repeatedly stabbed in a basement.

Newly released security footage appears to show the teenager running from a home on Garrison Boulevard at 8:52 p.m. on October 22—about 43 minutes after she arrived with the man accused of attacking her.

Abubakarr Barrie, 23, is accused of taking the girl to the property and stabbing her several times during an ordeal that left her with a collapsed lung.

Charging documents state that Barrie picked the teenager up on McCulloh Street. She believed they were going to PlattaKing on Belair Road, prosecutors said.

The girl reportedly became alarmed when Barrie drove in the opposite direction. When she questioned him, he allegedly wrapped an arm around her neck and head, restraining her while she was still wearing her seatbelt.

According to the documents, Barrie then forced her from the vehicle, seized her arms and pushed her down a short set of steps leading toward the rear of a house at 3705 Garrison Boulevard.

Inside a small room, he allegedly told her to put down her phone and remain silent.

A violent confrontation followed, with Barrie accused of striking the teenager with a knife across multiple parts of her body.

The teenager resisted, scratching at Barrie before noticing a fire extinguisher nearby, according to the charging documents.

She reportedly picked up the heavy device and struck him with it, allowing her to break away and run from the property without shoes or clothing.

Officers found her injured in the 3800 block of Belle Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m. The documents say she had wounds to her chest, ear, shoulder, back and ribs, as well as a collapsed lung.

The case has also drawn criticism from federal immigration officials, who argue Barrie should not have been at liberty when the alleged attack occurred.

The Department of Homeland Security identified Barrie as a national of Sierra Leone who entered the United States through Arizona in December 2023.

DHS said US Border Patrol arrested him after he crossed the border, but that he was later released into the country during the Biden administration.

Federal officials also said Barrie was arrested by the New York Police Department in July 2026 on suspicion of possessing a forged instrument in the third degree.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement then filed a detainer seeking his transfer to federal custody.

DHS claims officials in New York declined to honor the detainer and released Barrie, citing sanctuary policies.

According to the agency, that release occurred roughly three months before the alleged attack in Baltimore.

After Barrie’s arrest in Baltimore, ICE submitted another detainer on October 24 asking that he remain in custody rather than be released.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin sharply criticized sanctuary policies following the arrest.

“This illegal alien is charged with attempted murder and kidnapping after he allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old girl,” he said.

“This tragedy would never have happened were it not for the multiple failures of sanctuary policies.”

Mullin attributed Barrie’s presence in the United States to policies under the Biden administration and faulted New York authorities for allegedly failing to transfer him to ICE after his earlier arrest.

The owner of the Baltimore property, who requested anonymity, gave the surveillance footage to FOX45 News after learning about the alleged incident. He was out of the country when it happened.

Barrie, 23, an illegal migrant from Sierra Leone, had been released into America after being arrested at the southern border under the Biden administration, DHS says. Despite his defense arguing he has no criminal history, online records show he had been arrested in Baltimore County nearly three months earlier on a prostitution charge

DHS says Barrie, a 23-year-old migrant from Sierra Leone, was released into the United States after being arrested at the southern border during the Biden administration. Although his defense said he had no criminal record, online records indicate he was arrested in Baltimore County nearly three months earlier on a prostitution charge

The homeowner said Barrie had rented a basement room and returned to the property one or two months earlier after previously living there before moving to New York.

The surveillance recording shows a white car arriving in the driveway at 8:09 p.m.

A man the homeowner identified as Barrie exits the vehicle, followed by a female passenger. They walk toward the basement entrance and disappear inside. At 8:52 p.m., the girl can be seen running out.

Earlier that day, the homeowner said, Barrie had asked whether he could view the property’s security footage.

He allegedly told the owner that his wallet had been taken and that he wanted to send a photograph of a girl he suspected was responsible.

The request initially did not seem significant. But after talking with a friend whose uncle lived at the property, the homeowner began to fear that something much more serious had taken place.

He reviewed the recordings and turned them over to police. “This cannot be possible, not at my property,” he recalled thinking.

The homeowner said Barrie had never previously appeared violent and had lived at the address without creating problems.

He added that an older tenant recovering from a stroke had also been staying in the basement. Above all, he said, he was relieved that the teenager survived.

The owner of the Baltimore property has described his shock at learning what allegedly happened inside his home. The homeowner, who asked not to be identified, told FOX45 he was out of the country when the alleged attack took place

The Baltimore property owner said he was stunned to learn what allegedly occurred inside his home while he was overseas

“I’m glad she’s OK, number one, because at the end of the day, that could have been much worse. She could have not made it through,” he said.

The video does not reveal what happened inside the car or basement, and investigators have not independently verified every part of the teenager’s account.

The footage also appears to show the girl walking toward the home alongside Barrie. That differs from the charging documents, which say she told investigators he forced her toward the back of the property and pushed her down the steps.

Investigators said the teenager provided information about Barrie’s vehicle and a Cash App account. A phone number linked to the account was reportedly traced to him, along with vehicle details.

She later identified Barrie during a photographic lineup, according to the charging documents.

Barrie faces nine charges, including attempted first-degree murder and kidnapping, and remains jailed without bail.

His defense attorney told a court on October 26 that Barrie had no previous criminal history.

Online records, however, show that he was arrested in Baltimore County nearly three months earlier on a prostitution charge. The case was listed as “stet,” meaning the proceedings were suspended.

The investigation is continuing.
