Newly released surveillance footage captures the harrowing moment a 15-year-old girl allegedly escaped a kidnapper after he repeatedly stabbed her. Authorities say the suspect entered the United States illegally during the Biden administration and had been arrested by the NYPD only months before the alleged attack.
According to charging documents cited by Fox45, the girl was seen running from a Baltimore basement rented by Abubakarr Barrie, an unlicensed cabdriver. Investigators said she fled without shoes or clothing.
Barrie, a 23-year-old native of Sierra Leone, entered the country illegally in 2023 and was released into the community after Border Patrol arrested him, the Department of Homeland Security said.
Federal officials have described the Oct. 22 incident as a “heinous crime.” Barrie allegedly kidnapped the girl and stabbed her repeatedly, roughly three months after New York authorities declined to honor an ICE detainer following his arrest on a forged-instrument charge.
Although she suffered wounds to her chest, ear, shoulder, back and ribs, the girl managed to get out of the property. Her desperate escape was recorded by surveillance cameras installed by the homeowner.
She ran from the basement at 8:52 p.m., approximately 43 minutes after arriving with Barrie.
“I just see her bolt, like she just opens the door and runs,” the unidentified homeowner told Fox45.
Police found the injured girl about a mile from the residence. She told investigators that Barrie “immediately became violent” after she told him he was driving in the wrong direction when she had asked to be taken to a takeout restaurant. She said he placed her in a headlock.
Barrie then drove to the property where he rented a room, authorities said. Once there, he allegedly “pushed her down a tiny set of steps leading into the home, led her into a tiny room and advised her to put her phone down and not to scream,” according to court documents.

The two struggled before Barrie allegedly “began stabbing [the girl] all over her body.” She told investigators that she fought back by scratching and clawing at him.
During the struggle, the girl found a fire extinguisher in the basement and used it to strike Barrie. She then managed to flee the property.
Barrie was arrested on Oct. 24 and charged with attempted first-degree murder and kidnapping. An ICE detainer has since been filed against him.
DHS said Barrie had previously been arrested in New York City in July on a charge of possessing a forged instrument.
However, the agency said New York’s “sanctuary politicians” declined to honor the ICE detainer issued in that case.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin has since criticized former President Biden and New York officials over the case.
“This tragedy would never have happened were it not for the multiple failures of sanctuary policies,” he said.
“First, Biden’s open borders let this monster into our country, then sanctuary politicians in New York refused to hand him over to ICE and released him after a previous arrest three months before this horrific crime.
“DHS is urging Baltimore County authorities to learn from sanctuary New York’s mistakes, honor ICE’s detainer against this illegal alien, and prevent him from harming any more Americans.”
