Paulina Porizkova said she began feeling “invisible” to men after turning 58.
The supermodel said re-entering the dating world in her 50s was a startling experience after decades as one of the industry’s most recognizable models and years in a marriage.
Now 61, Porizkova reflected on life after divorce and the period of being single before finding love with her husband, television writer Jeff Greenstein, 62.
She said she felt increasingly overlooked after 58, but eventually met Greenstein on the dating app Raya. The couple married in July after dating for three years.
“I was on Raya for five years, and I got maybe four hits in five years. Older women are f***ing invisible on Raya,” she told People on Saturday.
Porizkova said that sense of invisibility extended beyond dating apps and into real-life social settings.

Paulina Porizkova said she felt she became “invisible” to men after turning 58.

She said returning to dating in her 50s was a shock after decades as a leading model and years in a marriage.
“If you want to find somebody and go to events to meet people, if you’re in your late 50s going to parties or a bar, you’re going to be totally overlooked,” she said.
“I know people don’t believe me. They’re like, ‘Oh, you’re Paulina Porizkova. How is that possible?’”
“You should just shadow me at a party and see how guys my age walk away and follow the 30-year-old to buy her a drink instead,” she added.
She also discussed returning to dating after separating from The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek, who died in 2019 before their divorce was finalized.
“It was shocking to me, because after the split I thought, ‘Oh, I’ll do a lot of dating.’ Then I was like, ‘Wait, but with who?’” she recalled.
“When I was dating before I met my husband, I was an extremely popular date,” Porizkova said.
“So going from being the hottest girl in town to being an invisible 58-year-old was really shocking,” she added.

Before meeting Greenstein, she said she received only four matches in five years on Raya, describing older women as “f***ing invisible” on dating apps; pictured in January 2023.

She said she was also overlooked while trying to meet someone at social events, where she often saw men gravitate toward women decades younger.

Porizkova described the experience as “really shocking” after spending decades at the top of the modeling industry.

Why do you think society often overlooks older women in dating and social situations?
She eventually encountered her now-husband on the dating app and immediately hit it off.
‘All we did was talk, and then FaceTime, and then have tea on FaceTime, which turned to wine on FaceTime, which turned into tequila on FaceTime,’ Porizkova recalled in an interview with People in July.
After two years of dating, Greestein, who wrote for shows like Will & Grace, proposed to the Czech-born model.
‘She’s the best-read person in the world,’ Greestein said about his wife.
He also said his bride is ‘so quick-witted’ and ‘so insightful.’
‘I wasn’t prepared for it. I had no idea the depths of her intelligence,’ he continued.
‘She cares about family, about social justice, she speaks four languages,’ he added. ‘And she’s sexy as hell.’
