What Is Constantine Maroulis’ Net Worth?

Constantine Maroulis, an American actor and rock singer, has carved a unique niche for himself in the entertainment world with an estimated net worth of $750,000. He first caught the public’s eye as the charismatic lead singer of the band Pray for the Soul of Betty and gained widespread recognition after securing the sixth spot on “American Idol.” His journey in the performing arts began at the Boston Conservatory of Music in 1999, where he completed a degree in Music Theater three years later. His talent soon led him to the Williamstown Theater Company as an apprentice, where he impressed directors and landed the role of AIDS-stricken musician Roger Davis in an international tour of “Rent.”

While fronting Pray for the Soul of Betty, Constantine auditioned for “American Idol” in 2005. His rock star charisma and magnetic stage presence won him a devoted fan base, leading to his sixth-place finish on the show’s fourth season. Following his “Idol” fame, he showcased his theatrical talents in Broadway hits such as “The Wedding Singer” (2006), “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” (2006), and “Rock of Ages” (2009–2015), earning a Tony Award nomination for his standout performance in the latter. He also played the dual roles of Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde in “Jekyll & Hyde” (2013). Maroulis expanded his discography with albums like “Pray for the Soul of Betty” (2005), “Constantine” (2007), and “Until I’m Wanted” (2020), further cementing his status as a versatile performer.

Early Life

Born on September 17, 1975, in Brooklyn, New York, Constantine James Maroulis comes from a Greek-American family. His grandparents immigrated from Greece in the 1920s, and he was raised in a Greek Orthodox household, fluent in Greek. The Maroulis family relocated to Wyckoff, New Jersey, when he was five, where his love for music blossomed. By age 11, he was learning the trumpet, later singing in garage bands like Milkbone and Lady Rain during his teenage years. After high school, he pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theater, and in 2000, contributed to the cast recording of “Suburban Dreams.” Before his “American Idol” stint, Maroulis appeared on several television shows and films, including “Elimidate,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” and “Astro Boy,” while also performing in off-Broadway productions.

Career

Maroulis’s journey on “American Idol” was marked by memorable performances of songs like Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose” and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” After his elimination on April 27, 2005, Pray for the Soul of Betty released their self-titled debut album, which achieved notable chart success. Maroulis left the band in 2006 to pursue solo projects, releasing albums such as “Constantine” (2007), which climbed to #75 on the Billboard 200 chart. His Broadway debut as Sammy in “The Wedding Singer” was followed by roles in “Rock of Ages,” where he also made a cameo in its 2012 film adaptation, and a recurring role in the CBS soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2007).

Personal Life

In his personal life, Constantine and his “Rock of Ages” co-star Angel Reed welcomed their daughter, Malena James Reed-Maroulis, on December 23, 2010. Their relationship, however, faced turmoil in August 2015, leading to Maroulis’s arrest following a domestic dispute. Legal representatives from both sides provided conflicting accounts of the incident, but the charges were eventually dropped at Reed’s request in September 2015.

Maroulis marked a significant personal milestone by celebrating 20 months of sobriety in 2021. Reflecting on his journey in OK! Magazine, he described the process as a gradual commitment to healthier living. That same year, he mourned the loss of his friend and “Rock of Ages” co-star Nick Cordero to COVID-19, honoring him as a beloved member of their theater community. Maroulis continues to uphold Cordero’s legacy, cherishing the memories and contributions he made to their shared artistic endeavors.

Awards

In 2007, Maroulis received a Humanitarian Award for Artistic Achievement from the Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund. The award is given to “individuals who have proven that hard work and dedication lead to achievement, thereby setting a perfect example for the HTSF scholarship recipients to emulate.” That year Constantine was also honored at the Greek Heritage and Culture Celebration as a leader in the Greek community. For his performance in “Rock of Ages,” he earned a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical in 2009 as well as a Drama League Award Nomination for Distinguished Performance. Also in 2009, the nonprofit educational organization Inside Broadway honored Maroulis with a Broadway Beacon Award, and he was voted Broadway.com’s Broadway Star of the Year. The Elios Society gave Constantine a Spotlight Award in 2011. In 2013, he earned a Drama League Award nomination for the Distinguished Performance Award for “Jekyll and Hyde.” In 2015, he received the first-ever Loukoumi “Make a Difference” Award.
